English: As I told you before, this day was super rough we went to not just one but TWO museums -and we thought we can make it 3, glad we decided not to-. We got up super early, had breakfast and went to our first museum: The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) -that's located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan-. How much did I paid for the ticket? I have absolutly no idea, because we used the NYCPass. We just paid the ticket for the Creatures of Light exhibition, and we paid USD 17.
Español: Como les dije en el post anterior, este día fue súper rudo porque fuimos a DOS museos en un solo día -y teníamos pensado ir a 3, menos mal que no lo hicimos-. Nos levantamos bien temprano, desayunamos en la calle del frente del hostel y nos fuimos a nuestro primer museo: The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) -que queda en el Upper West Side de Manhattan- ¿Cuánto me costó la entrada? La verdad es que no tengo ni idea, porque usamos el NYCPass. Lo que si tuvimos que pagar fue la exposición de Creatures of Light porque esta era una exposición temporal y pagamos alrededor de USD 17.

English: At the AMNH, we started at the Creatures of Light exhibition in which I was fascinated and bored at the same time, because there were somethings that I didn't knew and there others that I already knew, so they weren't that interesting for me. But Rick, who didn't have an idea of anything, thought everything was just amazing -he's an accountant and I'm a biologist-.
After that, we went to the dinosaurs exhibition, where we stayed most of the time -because it's really amazing and massive- and we went down from there. We finished at the Hall of Biodiversity, which was the exhibition I loved the most because it's AWESOME. There are so many animals and plants and stuff there, they even have a hall dedicated for marine life -imagine my excitement when we got there- where there's a whale hanging of the ceiling... It's really amazing. We finished at noon, so we went out of the museum, had lunch in one of the food trucks that are in front of the museum and we started our way to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
Español: Empezamos por la exposición de Creatures of Light en la que yo estaba entre fascinada y aburrida porque algunas cosas no las sabía -que fue lo que me fascinó- y otras pues ya las había visto en clase, así que no era tan interesantes. Pero Rick, que no tenía idea de nada -el es contador y yo soy bióloga- todo le parecía asombroso, era muy gracioso.

Al salir de esa exposición fuimos a la de los dinosaurios donde nos quedamos la mayor parte del tiempo y de ahí fuimos bajando hasta que se acabaron las exposiciones. Terminamos en el Hall of Biodiversity (Salón de la Biodiversidad), que fue la exhibición que más me gustó porque era BRUTAL. Demasiados animales y plantas juntos y hasta tenían un salón dedicado a la vida marina -imaginen mi emoción cuando llegamos ahí- donde hay una ballena guindada del techo... Es realmente impresionante. Terminamos más o menos al medio día, así que salimos del museo, comimos en uno de los food truck que están en frente y empezamos nuestro camino hacia el Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum -o como se le conoce vulgarmente: el Guggenheim-.
English: The Guggenheim it's at the Upper East Side, so what we did was walk across Central Park and then walk to the museum. This museum is definetly for modern and contemporary art lovers. The only things you're gonna see here are paintings. This was another atraction that was included in the NYCPass, so we didn't have to pay for the ticket.
What I loved about this museum was the architecture and the minimalist design. It's al white and tidy. Another thing I loved is that is not the typical museum with the boring plain rooms where they throw up all the pieces. All the pieces are around a giant spiral, so you don't have to go around the museum climbing boring stairs hahaha. You can start in the very bottom and go up, or you can go all the way to the top and go down from there.

Español: El Guggenheim está en el Upper East Side, así que lo que hicimos fue atravesar todo Central Park desde el Upper West hasta el Upper East y de ahí caminar hasta el museo. El Guggenheim es definitivamente para los amantes de lo abstracto jajaja y pues obviamente de las pinturas. Lo único que van a conseguir en este museo son pinturas de personas del nivel de Pollock -de hecho tienen varios Pollock-. Esto fue otra de las atracciones que el NYCPass incluía, así que no tuvimos que pagar nada en la entrada.
Lo que me encantó de este museo fue la arquitectura y el diseño minimalista. Y obviamente tiene que ser así, sino estaría demasiado recargado y sería pesado para la vista. Además me gusto que no es el típico museo con salas aburridas y planas. Todas las obras están dispuestas alrededor de un espiral gigante, así que no tienes que subir escaleras ni nada, sólo subir una rampa en espiral. O puedes hacerlo al revés, subir en ascensor hasta el tope e ir bajando -sus pies se lo agradecerán sí lo hacen asi, aunque tampoco es terrible si lo hacen subiendo-.
English: Since we were really tired -we walked A LOT-, we just wandered around the Upper East Side and then we catch the subway back to the hotel, grabbed something for dinner, and got ready for our next day.
